Turn off unity
  1. sudo apt-get install gnome-shell
  2. Log out of Ubuntu 11.04
  3. At the log on screen select the user you want to log in as
  4. At the bottom of the screen you'll notice a task bar appear - this allows you to switch between different modes
  5. Select Ubuntu Classic
  6. Log in as normal
  7. If you want Unity back, repeat the steps but instead choose Ubuntu
