For they themselves report about us what kind of a reception we had with you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God, and to
wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who
rescues us from the wrath to come.
- the greek word translated as from (ek) could mean from, or out of. From could imply that we are rescued before the wrath, whereas out of could imply we are in the wrath, and then get pulled out.
- 'the wrath to come' may be the tribulation, or it could be the final judgement of the wicked.

But since we are of [the] day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
