Theories regarding Israel
- Replacement theology - the Church has replaced Israel
- Replacement theology, but the nation of Israel is reconstituted as a believing nation at the return of Christ.
- The nation of Israel, including the current State, is prophesied in the Bible as the first of two and only two worldwide gatherings.
Why?
- To see the destruction of Gog
- to build the Third Temple
- to enter into agreement with the antichrist ("the prince who is to come")
- to be judged during the Tribulation, leading to Israel's national regeneration - a spiritual awakening
The regathering of Israel in belief
Deu 30:1-5 NASB20
"So it will be when all of these things have come upon you, the blessing and the curse which I have placed before you, and you call [them] to mind in all the nations where the LORD your God has scattered you, and you return to the LORD your God and obey Him with all your heart and soul in accordance with everything that I am commanding you today, you and your sons, then the LORD your God will restore you from captivity, and have compassion on you, and will gather you again from all the peoples where the LORD your God has scattered you. "If any of your scattered [countrymen] are at the ends of the earth, from there the LORD your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you back. "The LORD your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will be good to you and make you more numerous than your fathers.
Isa 27:1
On that day the LORD will punish [fn]Leviathan the fleeing serpent,
With His fierce and great and mighty sword,
Even [fn]Leviathan the twisted serpent;
And He will kill the dragon who lives in the sea.
Isa 27:12-13
On that day the LORD will thresh from the flowing stream of the Euphrates River to the brook of Egypt, and you will be gathered up one by one, you sons of Israel.
It will come about also on that day that a great trumpet will be blown, and those who were perishing in the land of Assyria and who were scattered in the land of Egypt will come and worship the LORD on the holy mountain in Jerusalem.
Eze 39:25-29 NASB20
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: "Now I will restore the fortunes of Jacob and have mercy on all the house of Israel; and I will be jealous for My holy name. "They will forget their disgrace and all their treachery which they perpetrated against Me, when they live securely on their [own] land with no one to make [them] afraid. "When I bring them back from the peoples and gather them from the lands of their enemies, then I shall show Myself holy through them in the sight of the many nations. "Then they will know that I am the LORD their God because I made them go into exile among the nations, and [then] I gathered them [again] to their own land; and I will leave none of them there any longer. "I will not hide My face from them any longer, for I will have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel," declares the Lord GOD.
The regathering of Israel in unbelief
Isa 11:11-12
Then it will happen on that day that the Lord
Will again recover with His hand the second time
The remnant of His people who will remain,
From Assyria, Egypt, Pathros, Cush, Elam, Shinar, Hamath,
And from the [fn]islands of the sea.
And He will lift up a flag for the nations
And assemble the banished ones of Israel,
And will gather the dispersed of Judah
From the four corners of the earth.
Eze 20:33-38 NASB20
"As I live," declares the Lord GOD, "with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with wrath poured out, I assuredly shall be king over you. "I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands where you are scattered, with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with wrath poured out; and I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face. "Just as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you," declares the Lord GOD. "I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant; and I will purge from you the rebels and those who revolt against Me; I will bring them out of the land where they reside, but they will not enter the land of Israel. So you will know that I am the LORD.
Eze 22:17-22 NASB20
Eze 22:17-22 NASB95 - And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Son of man, the house of Israel has become dross to Me; all of them are bronze and tin and iron and lead in the furnace; they are the dross of silver. "Therefore, thus says the Lord GOD, 'Because all of you have become dross, therefore, behold, I am going to gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. 'As they gather silver and bronze and iron and lead and tin into the furnace to blow fire on it in order to melt [it,] so I will gather [you] in My anger and in My wrath and I will lay you [there] and melt you. 'I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you will be melted in the midst of it. 'As silver is melted in the furnace, so you will be melted in the midst of it; and you will know that I, the LORD, have poured out My wrath on you.'"
Zep 1:14-15
Near is the great day of the LORD,
Near and coming very quickly;
Listen, the day of the LORD!
[fn]In it the warrior cries out bitterly.
A day of wrath is that day,
A day of trouble and distress,
A day of destruction and desolation,
A day of darkness and gloom,
A day of clouds and thick darkness,
Zep 2:1-2 NASB95
Gather yourselves together, yes, gather,
O nation without shame,
Before the decree takes effect--
The day passes like the chaff--
Before the burning anger of the LORD comes upon you,
Before the day of the LORD'S anger comes upon you.
Dan 9:24-27
“Seventy [fn]weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to [fn]finish the transgression, to [fn]make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and [fn]prophecy and to anoint the most holy place.
“So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a [fn]decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until [fn]Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with [fn]plaza and moat, even in times of distress.
“Then after the sixty-two weeks the [fn]Messiah will be cut off and have [fn]nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And [fn]its end will come with a flood; even to the end [fn]there will be war; desolations are determined.
“And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of [fn]abominations will come one who [fn]makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who [fn]makes desolate.”
70 sevens = 490 years
7x7 = 49 years until the rebuilding of Jerusalem
62x7 = 434 years until Messiah the Prince is cut off
a prophetic year = 360 days
434+49 = 483 years, when the Romans destroyed the second Temple
The remaining 7 years starts with the signing of the covenant with the "
the prince who is to come"
May 14, 1948 - the Provisional Government of Israel proclaimed a new State of Israel
Isa 66:8
“Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things?
Can a land be [fn]born in one day?
Can a nation be brought forth all at once?
As soon as Zion travailed, she also brought forth her sons.
